Inherited a Colorado Home From Out of State?

You’re out of state. The house still needs attention.

Inheriting a home is a lot to take on, especially when you don’t live nearby. There may be belongings to sort through, repairs to handle, and an empty house to look after. Making a trip to Colorado every time someone needs access isn’t always possible.

At Colorado Estate Services, we help personal representatives and families handle the property here while they manage things from home. We can meet contractors, coordinate a cleanout, get the house ready, and manage the sale. You stay involved in the decisions without having to organize every appointment.

Tell us about the property or call Dave at (720) 448-4236. It’s fine if you’re still figuring out where to start.

First, let’s see what the home needs

We’ll start with a conversation about the house, your timing, and what you need help with. Once access is arranged, we can walk through the property and help you understand its condition and what needs attention.

If it’s vacant, we can help with things that shouldn’t wait, such as changing locks, checking on the home, or arranging a sprinkler blowout before freezing weather. From there, we’ll work with you on a plan for the cleanout, any repairs, and the sale.

We’ll meet the contractors and coordinate the work

Finding someone to do the work is only part of it. Someone also needs to let them in, review bids with you, and follow up as the work moves along. We can handle those visits and keep you updated.

That can include estate sale and cleanout services, donation pickups, cleaning, painting, flooring, landscaping, and repairs. Your family decides what to keep, and you approve the work and costs before we move forward.

The house doesn’t have to be perfect to sell

You don’t need to commit to a remodel before talking with us. Some homes make sense to sell as-is. Others may benefit from a cleanout and a few improvements.

We’ll help you compare the options, including any cash offers you’ve received, and talk through the likely selling costs, repair expenses, and time involved. The goal is to help you decide what’s worth doing for this home and your situation.

You’ll know what’s happening with the property

We’ll keep you updated as work gets done and the sale moves forward. Once the home is listed, we handle the marketing, showings, offers, negotiations, inspections, and details leading up to closing.

If an attorney or fiduciary is helping with the estate, we can keep them informed too. We work alongside your attorney and title company, who can confirm the authority, documents, and signatures needed for the sale.

See how we’ve helped other families

For a family in Illinois, we coordinated roughly two months of preparation on an Aurora home, including a new roof, carpet cleaning, and a deep clean. For a relative in California, we arranged an Aurora cleanout, flooring, paint, and other work before selling.

A few questions you might have

Do I need to come to Colorado to get started?

No. We can start with a phone call and the property address. We’ll talk about access and what you need help with. Your attorney and title company can confirm whether any part of your particular sale requires you to be here.

Do I need to empty the house first?

No. We regularly help with homes that still have furniture and personal belongings inside. We can connect you with people who help sort, sell, donate, and remove items, while leaving the decisions about what to keep with your family.

What areas do you cover?

We work throughout the Denver metro, including Golden, Denver, Arvada, Lakewood, Aurora, Centennial, Evergreen, Loveland, Lone Tree, as well as other surrounding communities. Send us the address if the home is farther away, and we’ll let you know whether we can help.

What if I live in Colorado?

We help local families too. You may live nearby and still need someone to coordinate the cleanout, contractors, and sale. Our inherited-home services are available whether you’re a few minutes away or across the country.

Start with a call. We’ll help you figure out the rest.

You don’t need a repair list or a house that’s ready to sell. Tell us a little about the property and what’s going on, and we’ll talk through how we can help.
